Mutharika to welcome fallen MDF soldiers

President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and Commander-in-Chief of the Malawi Defence Force will on Wednesday lead the nation in welcoming the remains of six fallen peacekeepers who were killed in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

According to the Office of the President and Cabinet, the President is expected to arrive at the Kamuzu International Airport at half past 12 in the afternoon. The Malawi Defence Force, says upon arrival, the President will lead a military funeral ceremony and thereafter, the bodies will be ferried to their respective homes for burial.

The six were lieutenant Aubrey Kachemwe, Sergent Steven Kambalame, Corporal Jonathan Kapichira, Private Chancy Chitete, Private Benjamin Msongera and Private Simplex Taferakaso.
