Malawi’s celebrated light heavyweight boxer, Isaac ‘golden boy’ Chilemba returned to the ring in style on Friday defeating Australian Blake Caperello in a World Boxing Council (WBC) and World Boxing Association Ocean International light heavyweight title bout.

Chilemba came into the fight that took place at Melbourne Pavillion an underdog ranked 13th on WBC light heavyweight category whereas Caparello was ninth.
As if that was not enough, this was Chilemba’s first fight after 3 defeats and a long injury break since November 2016.
However, on Friday, Chilemba looked so determined to redeem his lost pride right from the onset throwing heavy punches on the Australian and in the end judges had no option but to score in his favor.
Meanwhile Malawi Professional Boxing Control Board (MPBCB) spokesperson Frank Chibisa has described Chilemba’s victory as a success to Malawi.
“Wining a fight after such a long break is not a joke and this is not a mean achievement, as MPBCB we are congratulating him and I think as a country we must be proud of Isaac,” he said.
In December last year, another Malawian boxer Anisha Bashir won an international title after flooring Kenyani Consolota Musanga in Nairobi.
