Former Peoples party( PP) Member of Parliament and vice president running mate Sosten Gwengwe has started his journey for a parliamentary come back. He has just won the primary elections and will represent Malawi Congress Party as candidate for the bye elections due to take place at Lilongwe msonzi North constituency.
In the primary elections which took place today ,Gwengwe won with a whooping 559 votes as compared to the other candidates namely; Kathewera who got 11 votes, Dzuwa got 2 votes, Dzoole Mwale got 2 votes and Chimphonda who got just one vote
Gwengwe ditched the Peoples Party and decided to rejoin the MCP- the party he belonged to before. He made big headlines in 2014 when the then President of Malawi Joyce Banda, picked him to be her presidential running mate. Unfortunate for the youthful Gwengwe , he lost both the parliamentary seat and the bid to be the Malawis Vice president.
Lilongwe Msozi North constituency fell vacant when its MP , Hon Highton Lewis Jiya died early this year
