Malawi’s Afro-fusion artist DNA says his second album, Dziko la Amuna, will be out by October this year.
The singer revealed this in an interview with MBC’s Joy Nathu inside Made on Monday program.
He said, “just like my first album Mizizi, Dziko la Amuna will have 12 tracks which have been produced at Matrix Records in Blantyre and CL Studios in Lilongwe.”
DNA, real name Daniel Kaliwo said the album is talking about challenges a young person, especially a boy, face when turning into adulthood.
“A phase when a boy is turning into a man is a very critical one. The album is therefore trying to tackle the challenges people face during this period and give hope to those who are going through tough times,” said DNA who is now based in Lilongwe.
The singer has so far released four songs namely Adzasintha, Ndimasowa Venue, Nyasaland in You and Odala.
“These four songs will be available for free downloads but for one to listen to the rest of the songs will have to buy the album which will be available on market after the launch in October,” said DNA who idolizes Skeffa Chimoto and Usher.
In the first songs that he has released, the Mukandipepesere hit-maker has not featured any artist but says he is working with Blaze, Nepman and other local artists.
DNA also revealed that he is going to release a couple of music videos in June and that he will have a Malawi Tour with his Project Anthu Ambiri band as one way of celebrating the album’s launch.
“Currently I am abit preoccupied with Project Anthu Ambiri where I am working as Project Manager but once we are done with the current projects I will be available to give my fans what they deserve from me,” said DNA who also revealed that he is getting engaged in December this year.
DNA ventured into the music industry as a hiphop artist in 2012 but surprised people when he released an afro-fusion hit single Mukandipepesere, which was followed by an album ‘Mizizi’ in October 2016.
