Lightening killing more people in Malawi, research finds

Malawi is said to be one of the top five countries in the world where people die after being struck by lightening each year.

According to Executive Dean for Climate and Sciences at the Malawi University of Science and Technology – MUST Professor Leonard Kalindakafe, the findings of their recent research indicate that Malawi is affected by lightening in certain months and districts. 

Professor Kalindekafe, disclosed that their study has revealed that more people associate lightening with traditional beliefs. He said from the research conducted in some districts a lot of people associate lightening with traditional beliefs.

The findings of study will be disseminated at the international conference on Lightening and Magnetism for Sustainable Development scheduled to take place on 29th-31th October
