More funds needed for baby Terry’s treatment

Out of K29 million that is needed for six month old Terry Grant Nyirenda for his kidney transplant in India, only K11.2 million has so far been raised.

Grant was diagnosed with Biliary Atresia, a rare life threatening liver disease in babies wherein bile ducts are blocked and trapped inside the liver, hence quickly resulting to liver damage.

The boy’s father, Ndugu Grant Nyirenda told Malawi News Agency (Mana) on Monday that more funds are needed in order to take her son to India to undergo the operation process scheduled for 1st to 3rd February this year.

He said though he arranged for a fundraising show in Kasungu last weekend, only a little amount of money was realized.

“The show went on, unfortunately, our main artists Gwamba was outside the country so he missed it but made a donation 0f K500, 000 to make up for him missing the show. Roughly, the show made about K600, 000 including Gwamba’s contribution,” said Nyirenda.

In a separate interview, Gwamba AKA Duncan Zgambo said he failed to make it due to unforeseen circumstances.

While commending the other artists for making the event possible, he appealed to the general public to contribute to the cause.

“I ask you all to help save the beautiful life by donating towards this good cause as we also keep the whole family in prayers,” he said.

Nyirenda then said plans are underway to hold another show at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) with Sonye, Mibawa Band and The Great Angels Choir just to mention a few.

The Kasungu show was graced by the following artists Purple C, Saint, Kell K, 3RD EYE AND VICE ROY who gave it all.
