The Football Association of Malawi president Walter Nyamilandu has declined to step down as President. Amidst growing pressure from football fans who feel football has gone down during his reign, Nyamilandu insists that he will see out his contract.
Nyamilandu who was addressing journalists at FAM offices in Chiwembe, Blantyre commended some concerned citizens for reversing their decision to hold demonstrations against him and flames coach RVG. He has asked Malawians to exercise patience and give Flames coach RVG all the support.
Nyamilandu also made an announcement that he will not contest for FAM Presidency in December 2019 and he will not support or campaign for any candidate. “I still have 15 months to serve as FAM President. I am committed to developing football from the grassroots. By December 2019, I will have done my part and will pave way for us to lead. Let me put it clear here that I will not stand in December 2019,” says Nyamilandu.
