Sad News as boat capsizes with 50 people on board coming from easter prayers in Rumphi

There has been a bad end to easter Sunday  for people in Rumphi and Malawians as such. Reports reaching our desk suggest almost 50 were on board the boat at the time of the accident.

As the story is still developing, details are abit sketchy, but 247 Malawi understands 50 people were coming from easter prayers in Mlowe and were crossing Lake Malawi. The people who are all members of the CCAP church are said to have met their fate due to the increasing heavy winds that they encountered.Rumphi police station officer  James Mpezeni confirmed that the people were coming from the easter prayer” they were travelling from Mlowe to their respective homes in Tchalo , in the district” said Mpezeni

So far its confirmed that 5 people have died  and 8 are receiving treatment and the search for the others continues. The people were travelling on kayokha boat- more details will follow about this tragic accident
