Sidik Mia denies he wants to contest against Chakwera for MCP presidency

Malawi Congress Party member and famously known Lower Shire giant Sidik Mia has denied rumours and claims that he is gearing up to contest against Party President  Lazarus Chakwera in the fourth coming party Convention  .

In a statement made available to 247 Malawi media Mia has described the rumours  as propaganda being peddled by  detractors on the social media and which should be ignored.  Mia went on to claim that he has actually  already endorsed Dr Chakwera to be the party’s torchbearer in 2019 and indeed to be the President of the Republic of Malawi in 2019.

“In as far as I am concerned, I strongly believe that MCP stands a very good chance of winning the 2019 elections with Dr Chakwera as the flag carrier and no one else. I have also assured you times without number that I will do whatever I can to help Dr Chakwera liberate this country from the mess we are currently in and you know that my actions do tally with my words”.  Read the statement.

Mia is tipped by many to likely be the running mate of Chakwera  in the next general elections, however recent rumours  of him wanting to have a go at the leadership may hamper his chances  of being the running mate – a  position which was help by Richard Msowoya in the last election.
