Silver Strikers on Sunday gained ground on league leaders Nyasa Big Bullets with a 1-0 win at home against Azam Tigers.
A stunning header from substitute Victor Limbani earned the central bankers the much needed victory at Silver Stadium.
With Bullets on number one with 21 points, the second placed Silver have reduced the gap at the top of the table to two points and they also have a game in hand.
After Sunday’s game Silver team manager Francis Songo was so delighted with the win and praised his boys for the spirited performance.
He added that they will make sure that they are not loosing points in the coming fixtures as they are aiming to win the league this season.
His counterpart Mapopa Msukwa blamed poor officiation for the loss saying most the referees decisions were questionable.
The loss at Silver means that the Kau-Kau boys have now played six matches without winning a match.
Elsewhere a Bernad Chimaimba’s penalty proved decisive as Masters Security beat Mzuni 1-0 at Dedza Stadium.
The big winners on Sunday were the area 30 corps Blue Eagles who walloped Dwangwa United 4-0 at Nankhaka Ground.
The win means Eagles have moved to position six after accumulating 14 points from eight games.
