Super League Second Round Begins Saturday

TNM Super League second round rolls back into life this weekend with three top teams—Nyasa Big Bullets, Silver Strikers and Be Forward Wanderers—hoping to start on a good note in their quest to win the title.

Bullets finished the first round at the summit of the domestic flagship league with 35 points followed by Silver Strikers and Mighty Be Forward Wanderers.

The ‘people’s team’ start their campaign in the second round on Sunday against rookies Nchalo United at Mulanje Park and their assistant coach Elia Kananji said their focus is to go on and win the Super League championship after they failed to win the Airtel Top 8 cup.

“Having failed to win the Top 8, our sights are now set on winning the league.
“We will make sure that we give our fans something to smile about at the end of this season,” said Kananji.

On the other hand, Silver Strikers are looking forward to start their campaign in the second round with a good result as they take on the resilient Azam Tigers on Saturday at Mulanje Park.

The central bankers, who last won the league four seasons ago, are eager to prove that they remain a big club in the country.

Be Forward Wanderers kick-start their second-round campaign at home against the soldiers-Kamuzu Barracks on Saturday at Balaka Stadium.

Nomads coach Bob Mpinganjira said they would want to repeat what they did last season.
“The mission is to defend the league title. We believe we have the capacity to do it.
“We just urge our fans to continue rallying behind us, there will be times when we’ll tumble, but I am optimistic that we’ll win the title again,” said Mpinganjira.

Elsewhere, capital city giants Civil Sporting will host Karonga United while 13th placed Dwangwa United will be at home against Top 8 champions Blue Eagles.

Meanwhile Malawians are eagerly waiting to see if the complexion of the log table will have a different look after this week’s fixture.
