A total of 15 girls from different parts of the country were up for the crown but the night graced by wife to Vice President Saulos Chilima, Mary and other guests, belonged to Tionge who has taken over from Cecilia Khofi.
On Saturday night amidst the glitz and glamour, the former Miss Heritage (2016) was clearly the crowd’s favourite judging by the the cheers she attracted every time her name was called out.
As a winner, Tionge walked away with a brand new Nissan Tilda, a laptop, cellphone and other small prizes.
The outgoing Miss Malawi Cecilia Khofi has since congratulated the new queen and wished her good luck for her new job as Miss Malawi
“Let me congratulate Tionge for winning the crown, being Miss Malawi is a great opportunity though it’s not an easy one, I can only advise her to carry the crown with dignity and respect,” said Khofi.
Since it’s return last year, Miss Malawi has been organised by two media houses Nation Publications Limited (NPL) and Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS).
