Campaign Director for Malawi Congress Party (MCP), Moses Kunkuyu, has alleged that President Peter Mutharika and Vice President Saulos Chilima strategically agreed to part ways and form another political party in order to suppress MCP.
Kunkuyu said this at a rally targeting MCP youth in Mzuzu on Sunday. In his address Kuknuyu said Malawians should not be cheated as he has evidence that suggest Mutharika only parted ways with Chilima as a strategic move to stop MCP from winning next year’s general elections.
“DPP decided to split into two to confuse Malawians after noting that MCP would have a land slide victory during the 2019 polls, I have all the details and will shortly reveal the whole deal between UTM and DPP”
Kunkuyu argued that he has proof that Chilima has not officially resigned from the DPP.
But UTM spokesperson Dr. Joseph Chidanti Malunga says MCP is just frustrated by overwhelming support the new political party is amassing. DPP secretary General Gredzelia Jeffrey said Chilima officially resigned from DPP and that Kunkuyu claims are just lies .
