Wanderers through to Carlsberg Cup semis

Be Forward Wanderers progressed to the semifinals of the Carlsberg Cup after beating Tigers FC 4-5 on penalties at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday. The match went straight into penalties after a 1-all draw in regulation time.

Wanderers converted all their spot kicks through Joseph Kamwendo, Zicco Nkanda, Precious Sambani, Francis Mlimbika and Alfred Manyozo Jnr. Tigers converted through Peter Katsonga, Victor Nyirenda, Jaffalie Maunde and Anthony Namwela while Bonga Mpinganjira’s spot kick was stopped by Wanderers goalkeeper Nenani Juwaya.

At Civo Stadium in Lilongwe, Masters Security equally booked semifinal ticket after beating Mafco 4-3 on penalties. The match also ended 1-all in regulation times.

Wanderers will now battle for the final ticket with Hangover, who booked semifinal ticket after beating Blue Eagles 1-0 at Balaka Stadium on Saturday while Masters Security will play away to Nyasa Big Bullets, who beat Red Lions 3-4 on penalties on Saturday as well.
