As the situation in the DPP camp continues to get worse, they are now strong fears over the state of the party leader and Malawi President Peter Mutharika. The party leader has intensified his public appearances and has since attempted to answer back to calls coming from the Chilima camp that he retire and pave way for his vice.
A video has gone viral on social media of when the president was addressing a meeting in Mulanje . The president command of the Chichewa language has always been questionable- however in the video, he attempted to mix both the mother language and English . The president could hardly express what he wanted to say, he was huffing and puffing , raising his hands in the air in a visibly shaken and angry manner
This has raised concern to a number of Malawians about the current state of the Malawi President. While people are starting to question his current mental state, others are also concerns of the physical health effects this can bring if indeed the president is highly stressed. Body language experts have said the president is starting to clearly showing signs of a man under panic.
The video which has since gone viral on social media, the president is seen delivering a speech while highly agitated and fully charged with anger. What has generated interest in the video is that fact that nobody can understand what the president was saying.
Commenting on the video, Political commentator Bwanali Msonthi said “the president needs to be calm and handle the problems in his party with calmness. This is the time when real leadership is tested and APM has already started showing that he is cracking under pressure”.
The Chilima movement is an offspring of the DPP party and are calling for Mutharika to retire and pave way for his vice president Saulos Chilima
