The Ministry of Information and Communications Technology has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing construction of a computer laboratory at Chintheche Community Day Secondary School, describing the initiative as a strategic milestone in advancing digital empowerment under the Connect a School Project.
Secretary for Information and Communications Technology, Harold Msusa, made the remarks on Thursday during a project inspection conducted on behalf of the Minister of Information, Shadric Namalomba. He said the laboratory marks a significant step towards expanding digital learning opportunities for students while enhancing community access to modern information tools needed for long-term socioeconomic growth.
Msusa noted that once completed, the facility will serve approximately 800 students, with the capacity to accommodate up to 60 learners at a time. He said this will provide structured digital learning sessions and ensure that learners have sufficient access to computers and internet-enabled equipment.
The Connect a School Project has so far reached about 75 schools nationwide, with an additional 120 institutions expected to be included in the next phase. This forms part of an ambitious national plan targeting 2,000 schools to strengthen digital literacy and bridge technological gaps across the education sector.
