Spanner Malawi Unbothered by Local Awards, Proud to Fly Malawi’s Flag Globally

By Rahim Abdul

Spanner Malawi, a renowned competitive eating expert known for consuming large quantities of food within minutes, has dismissed concerns about not receiving local awards in Malawi, saying his focus is on global impact rather than recognition at home.

Speaking confidently, Spanner Malawi said he has no complaints about awards being presented in the country, stressing that his journey has already earned international recognition beyond Malawi’s borders.

He revealed that his biggest personal award was achieved in Nigeria, where his unique talent was acknowledged, marking a major milestone in his career and putting Malawi on the international competitive eating map.

Spanner Malawi emphasized that his mission has always been to take Malawi to the world, proudly chanting “Malawi to the world,” as he continues to represent the country on global platforms.

Reflecting on his journey, he described history as the best teacher, noting that achievements are not always immediately appreciated at home but often gain value with time.

He believes he is the first Malawian in history to introduce and popularize competitive eating as a recognized talent, opening doors for a new and unconventional sporting discipline in the country.

According to Spanner Malawi, the absence of local awards does not discourage him, as his main goal is to see Malawi gain worldwide recognition through his extraordinary ability.

He added that appreciation and acknowledgment are important, but they should never overshadow the bigger picture of national pride and global visibility.

Spanner Malawi said he remains committed to inspiring young Malawians to believe in unique talents, even those that may seem unusual or overlooked.

He concluded by stating that as long as Malawi’s name continues to trend worldwide because of his talent, he considers himself a winner, regardless of where or how awards are given.
