Pemphero Mphande signs hip-hop artist ‘Nthondwa’

Social Media Influencer Pemphero Mphande and hip-hop artist Nthondwa have signed a K5 million one-year management deal which will help to promote and push the artist to greater heights.

According to Mphande the K5 million will come from his company ‘265Dates’ and will be channeled towards marketing, studio recording and videography.

Speaking after signing the artist at Amaryllis Hotel in Blantyre, Keturah’s former manager said he believes Nthondwa has got potential to achieve greater things in music and he is ready support him.



“I have always believed that some talents are special and need help to move forward. I have known Nthondwa for about two years and he has impressed me with how he wants to use rap to further our culture. I have also fallen in love with his authenticity and I think he is special,” he said.

Nthondwa, real-name Chawanangwa Malanga is well-known in the music circles for his Tumbuka rap and he is fondly called Tumbuka Hip-Hop Landlord by his fans.

Apart from music, Nthondwa works as a part time Lecturer in the school of Art, Communications and Design at the University of Malawi (UNIMA) in Zomba.

Bullets Reserves crowned ThumbsUP SFRA League Champions

Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves are the champions of the ThumbsUp Southern Region Football Association (SRFA) League following their 2-0 victory against Bangwe All Stars at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Lyton Chinong’one drew first blood for the Young Bullets just 13 minutes in the first half before Emmanuel Saviel sealed the victory with his 24th of the season 12 minutes before the end of the match.



In a third place tie, Monkeybay-based MDF Marine beat FOMO FC 1-0 at the same venue courtesy of a Gift Munthali’s first half goal.

As champions, Bullets Reserves have received K2.5 million while Bangwe All Stars went home with K1.5 million for finishing second.

MDF Marine and Fomo FC have received K750,000 and K500,000 for finishing third an fourth respectively.

Despite the loss, Bangwe All Stars have qualified as the region’s representative in the 2023 TNM Super League.

The winners, Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves can not be promoted into the top flight league because it is a feeder to Nyasa Big Bullets main team.

Mangochi woman in cooler for scalding fellow woman over prostitution allegations

Police in Mangochi are keeping in custody a 27-year-old Lucy Patrick, for allegedly scalding Amida Jafali with hot water.

The incident happened at Mgundaphiri Village, Traditional Authority ( TA) Mponda in the district.

According to Mangochi Police Public Relations Officer ( PRO), Amina Tepani Daudi,the two had a fight as Amida alleged that Lucy was spreading rumours that she was into prostitution with her husband.



Daudi disclosed that the two were once close friends and stayed together, but parted ways after they accused each other of gossiping.

The police publicist said that one day, the two started fighting and in the heat of the fight, the suspect took a pot of hot water straight from the fire and splashed on Amida’s chest.

“The victim was rushed to Mangochi District Hospital and later referred to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre for further medical treatment after sustaining severe burns,” said Daudi.

Meanwhile, Lucy has been charged with acts intended to cause grievous harm and she will appear before court soon after completion of paperwork.

Founder of Powerhouse International Church Reverend Clement Nkhoma says most marital challenges as a result of lack of communication among married people.

Nkhoma was speaking to the press on Friday ahead of a marriage summit his church has organized scheduled for February 11,2023, at Golden Peacock Hotel in Blantyre.

According to Nkhoma, the summit is aimed at equipping people with skills on how they can become better partners, in the process, making their marriages a success.


Nkhoma who is the summit host said, he has observed that lack of communication between married people, is among the major causes of problems in most marriages.

“The first one is lack of communication Many seem to forget that they have a partner so that everything they are doing they must be communicating- so that they are on the same page.

“So you usually find that there is a lot of miscommunication in the families, you find that someone has done something without notifying the other, so all this brings a lot of confusion in the families,” said Nkhoma.

He added that financial issues also prove to be among factors turning sweet marriages sour as many couples do not plan and budget together, which results into misunderstandings in families.

Among others, the summit will touch on issues of Health and Sexuality, Deceased Estates, Will and Inheritance and also Domestic Violence.

It has attracted trainers like, Justice Jean Kayira, Justice Anneline Kanthambi, among others.

Centre for Social Concern advises government to reduce debt

A non-governmental organization Centre For Social Concern ( CSC) has advised the government to lower its debt that impedes development of the country.

Speaking at the press briefing in Lilongwe on Friday, the organization’s Executive Director James Jakaay, said the Tonse Alliance authorities must fulfill the promises they made during the campaign before they usher into government one being to reduce debt through expenditure cut.

” But at the same time look at our president is moving around with a big convoy and also going outside the country using a huge amount of forex that makes an impediment to the development of the country, ” said Jakaay.

He further lamented that in order for the government to grow economically and hit the target of vision 2030 and 2063, there is a need to invest and not only to consume.

He said ” we are depending on maize can’t we have states that can help to produce more maize that can be exported, so that we can get forex that can be invested in other things.”

Jakaay also urged the government to use available resources like tourism that attracts a lot of tourists who bring forex that can be utilised properly so that debt can be reduced.

He also urged the government to deal with corruption which is hindering Malawians and development of the country hence debt and corruption makes things difficult.

He added by appealing to journalists to disseminate information to the public to make sure that people are able to know the debt that the government receives and how the money has been spent to promote transparency and accountability in the country.

Some reports show that government has more one trillion kwacha debt from both locally and internationally financial institutions.
