Multi-award winning Hip-hop artist, Phyzix says all is set for his ‘Mountain Goat’ music concert and has urged people to patronize the event in large numbers as it will be one of the biggest music events in Malawi this year.
The concert is expected to take place at Amaryllis Hotel in Blantyre and it will mark the launch of his 15th album ‘Mountain Goat’ which was released on October 27 this year.
” Yes, the Concert is on this coming Friday 15th December at Amaryllis Hotel in Blantyre from 6pm till late and it’s going to be too much fire! Myself , the band and all the artists are fully prepared for the show, all you have to do is to come and witness this big event”, said Phyzix.

Apart from Phyzix, some of the artists who are also expected to perform on the night include Zeze Kingston, Hyphen, Malinga Mafia, Wikise, Charisma, Tuno, Bee Jay, Ace Jizzy, Daredevils, Barry Uno and Vinchenzo from Zambia.
However, the preparations to the concert have not been without controversies as some names of artists who were lined up to perform have been chopped from the list of the performers due to limited time available.
Some of the artists who were removed from the list of the performers include Phyzix’s long time friend and producer Stich Fray as well as veteran rapper Mandela Mwanza popularly known as Third Eye.
President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has advised well liquid Malawians to use their money to add value to local goods and services before exporting them to other countries rather than using them only on consumption.
Speaking at Chigumukire School Ground in Chileka, Blantyre on Monday during the commemoration of International Human Rights Day, Chakwera also urged Malawians who have an upper hand in economic and social privilege to ensure the creation of opportunities for the less privileged.
Chakwera said there is a growing culture in the country for everyone to look after themselves.
The Malawi leader condemned the selfish culture of most Malawians who have more disposable income than others.

Chakwera explained that true measure of success is not how much more you have than others, but how many opportunities you are creating for others.
Emphasized President Chakwera, “Those with more disposable income must remember that privileged education is not for themselves only but also for others. Let us create opportunities for others.”
United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator for Malawi, Rebecca Adda – Dontoh, hailed the Chakwera led administration for creating an enabling environment for the protection of the marginalised such as women, children, the disabled, the elderly and refugees.
Zoey Kadango, 6,and Zara Kadango, 4, who live in Dublin, Ireland are the top winners of this year’s Association of Malawians in Ireland (AMAI) Kids Got-Talelent competition.
The two were announced top winners at an event that took place at Maldron Hotel in Dublin.
They won a hamper, €240 and a Christmas cake.
In an interview, the competition organizer and President of Malawian community in Ireland Henry Mkumbira Phiri said Zoey and Zara were voted by the judges as the top winners for displaying amazing skills in cooking Malawian local foods and speaking Chichewa fluently.

“They deserve to be the top winners for the competition.They displayed very amazing skills. They both got talent and that is why we have given them this amount so as to encourage them keep on working hard,”said Mkumbira.
He said as an Association, they decided to come up with the competition in order to identify skills among Malawian kids who live in Ireland.
“As an association, we decided to come up with this competition so as to identify skills among Malawian kids who are living here in Ireland. In simple words, this is a competition aimed at acknowledging excellence among the Malawian community in Ireland,”he said.
He added:” Again,the competition is aimed at preserving and promoting the Malawian culture in Ireland. The event also encourages hard work and resilience among the Malawian Community in Ireland.”
In her remarks after receiving the amount, Zoey Kadango thanked AMAI for organizing the competition saying it will take skills among Malawian kids in Ireland to the higher level.
“We are very thankful to AMAI for coming up with this wonderful competition. These prizes will help us work extra hard and extend our skills.We hope this will also encourage others who have not done well to work hard and improve. We say thank you AMAI,” lauded Zoey.
There were 19 kids who participated in the competition this year and only three reached the finals.
In 2021,Divine Kaponda emerged the top winner in the competition after showing amazing skills in arts, drawing and painting.
She went home with €100.
The 2023 competition results announcement were spiced up by the Malawi’s most booked artist Driemo.

Speaking on Friday at the graduation ceremony of 186 students who have completed takenoLAB’s Malawi Digital Program in ICT trainings held at DAPP Teacher’s Training College in Dowa district, UNHRR’s Education Officer Priscilla Kalumo, encouraged the graduands to remain steadfast in their pursuit of excellence saying the world around them is constantly evolving, presenting new challenges and opportunities.
Kalumo said success is not handed out freely but it is earned through dedication, creativity, and an open mind, urging them to embrace this ever-changing world with creativity, adaptability and an eagerness to learn.
She said graduands should always remember that the opportunities they seek might not always be readily available hence they often require determination and competitive spirit offering her sincerest congratulations on their journey that has been filled with challenges yet their determination, resilience, and unwavering commitment to their dreams.
“You stand as a testament to the power of resilience and dedication, you have not only hold on to your dreams but acted upon them, turning aspirations into tangible achievements,” said Kalumo.
In her remarks, takenoLAB’s Digital Malawi Project Team Leader Deborah Ntakirutimana, expressed her deepest appreciation to the UNHRC whose partnership has been instrumental in fostering an environment of learning and growth.
Ntakirutimana said the support from the UNHCR has not only enriched the educational experience to the students but has also contributed to the broader mission of empowering individuals through technology.
She also expressed her gratitude to the Public Private Partnership Commission (PPPC) for its significant role in promoting public-private collaboration in the education through funding Refugee Led Organizations (RLO).
Speaking at the same auspicious occasion, District Director of Youth and Sports in the Ministry of Education-Dowa District Council Christopher Kumikundi, thanked takenoLAB for integrating refugees and the host community in offering ICT trainings describing this as very commendable.
Kumikundi said takenoLAB is complimenting government efforts of providing ICT trainings to the youths saying it is the wish of the Dowa District Council to see to it that many people in the district have opportunities to access ICT knowledge which is being offered for free at takenoLAB.
“We want to have many young ladies and men access ICT knowledge and skills being impacted by takenoLAB for 100 percent free, this is an added advantage to all the youths of Dowa,” he said.

Super League of Malawi(SULOM) President Fleetwood Haiya on Saturday evening launched his manifesto for Football Association of Malawi (FAM) Presidency at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.
The FAM elections are slated for December 16,2023 in Mzuzu.
In his presentation,Haiya promised to transform football so that it can contribute to the social-economic development in line with the government’s 2063 agenda.
He said he believes that developing Football through Malawi Schools Associations (MASSA) and have a vibrant grassroots development.

He further pleasges support and regulate all academies country wide and gloom players from tender ages up to the national team levels.
On resource mobilisation, Haiya said through partnerships with the private sector he will ensure that funding is always available for all football and related activities at all times.
Haiya also promised that he will be more transparent and accountable by publicly declaring funds sourced from FIFA and all sponsors both local and international.
He said: “People need to know how much money FAM gets from Fifa and how the money is spent. Imagine as Super League president, I am not aware as to how much FIFA gives to FAM. I promise to be transparent.”
He since disclosed the need of taking advantage of diplomatic ties to have football administrators, coaches, managers and match officials to be trained abroad for more exposure and experience.
The aspirant also set his eyes on funding increase and improve club funding through increment of gate collection to 60 percent and implement the E-Ticketing strategy in collaboration with Super league sponsors TNM.
He further highlighted the need for Partnerships with local and international football academies to enhance player export strategy for the country to have more professionals in some of the world best leagues.
For the elite league, Haiya promised to enhance the commercialisation drive and corporate governance of clubs; raise their gate revenue to at least 30 percent, secure consistent funding for clubs, activate FIFA Forward Subvention Fund to cushion clubs, redesign club-centred TV rights deals, and improve infrastructure.
For regional football, Haiya pledged to establish offices for all regional leagues and also procure utility vehicles.
Still on the elite league,Haiya promised an increment of K20 million kwacha subvention to the Super League teams, starting from next season.
He then thanked all who attended his manifesto launch.
Haiya: “Thank you all for coming to support me as we seek to realign and take our football in the right direction.
“I will not get carried away promising diamonds when at the surface there is Silver. I am here to repair damaged wheels. I am not here to build bridges where there are no rivers. But I am here to re-ignite football,” he said.
In his remarks, Minister of Information Moses Kunkuyu said:”There are no life footballers and there are no life presidents. Malawi football has experienced triumphs and tribulations at the same time. As government we yearn for a return to the glory that was there during the time of Kamuzu Banda. There was a time when we could export our talent. Players should be main beneficiaries of the game.
“My message to delegates going to vote at the FAM elections is to think about the situation of football in the country and not be swayed by money. If you think we are there then vote wisely. It is only 36 delegates but think about the 18 million people of this country.”
Haiya is facing incumbent FAM President Walter Nyamilandu Manda in the elections.
