World Vision has commended the Norwegian government for being one of the countries that pumps in resources to the global fund, which disperses funds to various countries across the global including Malawi.

Speaking when the young Norwegians politicians visited Baylor College Clinical Centre of Excellency for Paediatric Care on Tuesday in Lilongwe, World Vision Chief of the Party for the Global Fund Grant, Dr Beswick Mwale said the coming in of the Norwegians is to see the investment which Norwegian government has been contributing through the global fund. The fund has been benefitting the young adolescents who are living with HIV positive.

Dr Mwale further said Baylor college is one of the centres that is providing support to the young adolescents as they are also others which they are supporting through conducting team plan programmes in the fourteen districts around Malawi.

He said:” That is not enough, we wish we had enough money in order to increase our allocation to Baylor, but also to support others so that we can reach out to almost everybody that needs support.”

He went further by lobbying for more financial support from the well wishers and other development partners.

On his part Baylor College of Medicine and Foundation in Malawi Executive Director Phoebe Nyasulu said they are doing extremely well because their clientele remain consistent. She said the children that started with them years ago are still part of their work.

Nyasulu said:” we are a paediatric clinic and we are supposed to take care of the children, but the children that we started with when they are young and at that time some of them were actually born within the programme and have grown and are now adolescents.

She further said they are planning to assist them to be independent economically and some of them are in school and others have done enterprenuership which will help promote their financial self reliance.

On her remarks the Norwegian leader for Centre Youth Party Andrine Seppora said it is inspiring to meet the people who have gone through a lot. He promised that they will continue to help the young adolescents who are diagnosed with HIV and Aids who are being looked after by Baylor.

Baylor College of Medicine Children Foundation Peer Supporter Violet Zulu encouraged the young adolescents to make sure that they are adhering to medication and treatment properly which will help their viral load to be suppressed in order for them to live health.

World Vision is supporting Baylor college Clinical centre of excellency for Paediatric Care which has about 6000 young adolescent boys and girls who are living with HIV and AIDS in fourteen districts in this country with resources from the global fund.
