Bullets through to the FDH Cup Final after thumping Dedza Dynamos 5-1

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets are through to the finals of the K120 million FDH Bank Cup following their 5-1 win against Dedza Dynamos in a semi-final match that took place at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

A brace from Anthony Mfune, and goals from Collins Okumu, Hassan Kajoke and McFarlen Ngwira was all what Bullets needed to book themselves a place in the final of the prestigious cup.

The People’s team took the lead three minutes into the game, through Collins Okumu who scored with a powerful header, connecting well a Patrick Mwaungulu’s beautifully taken free-kick.



Hassan Kajoke doubled the lead for the home side scoring his fourth goal in the tournament after receiving an excellent cross from Gomezgani Chirwa in the 65th minute.

Anthony Mfune increased the lead from a rebound in the 69th minute and completed his brace just four minutes later connecting well a beautiful pass from Patrick Mwaungulu.

Bullets got their final goal of the match just a minute before the end of the regulation time through MacFarlane Mgwira.

Mgwira capitalized on a defensive blander by Donnex Mwakasinga who gave away the ball to the opposition and it found the veteran player who made no mistake but to seal the victory for the Ndirande outfit.

Dedza got their consolation through Gift Magola who capitalized on a Collins Okumu’s blander to find the back of the net in the 85th minute.

The win means that Bullets have reached the FDH Cup final for the second time in a row and they will face Mafco FC who reached the final after outclassing Bullets’ rivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers last weekend.

Bullets are the defending champions of FDH Cup as they won the cup last season after beating their juniors, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Reserve.

Chakwera salutes Afreximbank for contributing to Malawi’s economic development

President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera says African Export – Import Bank (Afreximbank) continues to be a key partner for Malawi in strengthening our foundation for inclusive and sustainable development.

Chakwera made the remarks on 23rd September 2023 during a meeting with the bank’s President, Professor Benedict Oramah in New York, United States of America (USA).

The Malawi leader is currently in the US attending the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) conference

“I extended gratitude to him and his team for the critical role they have played in the achievement of the staff level agreement with International Monetary Fund (IMF), wrote Chakwera on his Facebook page.

“We have agreed to continue engaging each other on a clear roadmap that seeks to improve our debt sustainability and spur Malawi’s socioeconomic development.”

Mayor Richard Banda handovers another ambulance to Mlodza constituency

Mayor of Lilongwe City has handed over an ambulance to the people of newly demarcated Lilongwe Mlodza constituency where he is aspiring to stand.

Banda said he decided to give the ambulance in order to compliment the Government effort on provision of quality health care ( QHC).

“You are aware the Government cannot do everything alone there should be some people to help achieve what the Government is already doing. Let me say this , there are more people out there with cash, let me ask them to come and invest in people It’s the only health person who can develop the area, ” he said.

Speaking during the function, Block Leader Kabila while representing people commended Banda for the assistance.

Kabila said people in the area have been struggling whenever they are sick. Kabila said the Ambulance will go a long way helping the people in the area especially nowadays where there are unprecedented serious and strange diseases.

This is the second Ambulance after giving the another one in July this year.

Muslims urged to donate towards sick, poor during Ziyarah celebrations

Muslims in the country have been urged to celebrate Ziyarah (birth of Prophet Muhammad) together with the poor in the communities and the sick in hospitals by donating to them various items.

Speaking at a press briefing on friday morning at Madressah Noorul Islam, this year’s Ziyarah coordinator Mohammed Shaiful Omar disclosed that with financial support from Limbe Muslim Jammat and AQSA, they are set to donate various items valued at K35 million to 1500 patients at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre on Sunday September 24, 2023 as part of the Islamic event celebration.



“As part of celebrating this year’s Ziyarah ( birth of our Prophet Muhammad), we have decided to donate various items to the sick at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital Hospital on Sunday September 24. The main aim of the donation is to celebrate the special day with the sick so as to bring happiness among them.

“However, we are calling on all Muslims in the country to emulate the same by donating what they have to the poor and sick in their communities,” said Omar.

He described Prophet Muhammad as one who was mercefu and generous to many hence a need for all Muslims to follow his footsteps.

According to Omar, this year’s Ziyarah is being spiced up by a number of activities including parades.

Muhammad was an Arab religious, social, and political leader and the founder of Islam.

According to Islamic doctrine, he was a prophet divinely inspired to preach and confirm the monotheistic teachings of Adam, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and other prophets.

He is believed to be the Seal of the Prophets within Islam, with the Quran as well as his teachings and practices forming the basis of Islamic religious belief.

Chakwera Govt commissions water and eclecticity projects in Mtiya ward Zomba

Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Secretary General Elsenhower Mkaka on Saturday commissioned a number of development projects in the area of Traditional Authority Mwambo in Zomba.

Honourable Mkaka commissioned a water project at Mtendere as well as electricity at the same venue.



Speaking during the function , Hon Mkaka urged people of Mtiya Ward to come out in their large numbers and vote for Humphery Labeti during the Tuesday by elections. Mkaka is destined for a political rally to officially close the campaign period.


Director of Youth Hon Richard Chimwendo Banda and Hon Ken Zikhale Ng’oma are also attending the rally.
