Chakwera calls for unity of purpose to develop Malawi

President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has called for concerted efforts in the development of the country and retaliated that his government will work hard to fulfill campaign promises.

He made the remarks on Sunday at Ngabu Sports Ground in Chikwawa during a celebration ceremony of the life of Late Sidik Mia who succumbed to Covid-19 in January, 2021.

“Let us work in unity regardless of our political or religious affiliations so that we develop our country,” said Chakwera.

President Chakwera was grateful to the family of Late Mia as they continue to carry out charity works that the deceased used to do when he was alive.

Karim Elias who represented the family of Late Sidik Mia expressed gratitude to the President for being part of the ceremony celebrating the life of Sidik Mia whom he said was a pillar in their family.

The celebrations started with prayers lead by Sheik Naisan Yusuf at the Mia’s residence in Chikwawa followed by distribution of relief items to 4000 households.

Earlier in the day the President visited people who have been displaced by floods at Bereu Primary School, Chikuse Camp and Jombo Primary School.

Legendary musician Chalamanda celebrates his 92nd birthday at Crossroads Hotel in Blantyre

All roads going to Cross Roads Hotel in the malawi’s commercial city of Blantyre will be busy this evening as many will be flocking to the hotel where the legendary musician Gides Chalamanda will have a birthday dinner , celebrating his 92nd birthday.

Posting on his Facebook page, Social Media Influencer Pemphero Mphande, says all is set for the Chalamanda’s birthday party and that it will start at 7: 00 PM in the evening.

” The church has sang happy birthday to Mr. Chalamanda. This evening at 7 PM, we are holding a birthday dinner for him at Crossroads Hotel in Blantyre. You can support the legendary musician by booking a seat at the dinner table for only K30, 000. WhatsApp or call 0995064217. We are closing bookings at 3 pm,” says Mphande.



Phande adds that the Chinafuna m’bale hit maker will perform at the party to entertain the audiences with his ever fade hits.

The international star and Linny Hoo hit maker was born on 15 January 1931. He goes in history as the oldest musician in Malawi.

Chalamanda’s musical career started in mid 1940 when he started teaching himself playing gallon guitars.

His blockbuster ‘ Ndaona Ine’ which was recorded and premiered by the Malawi’s public broadcaster MBC shook the airwave.

Peter Mutharika rejects Thom Mutharika who claims to be his sibling, calling him a fraudster and an imposter

Former President Arthur Peter Mutharika has distanced himself from Kalani Thom Mutharika who claims that he is from Mutharika family despite living in miserable life.

In a statement, through his spokesperson Shadrek Namalomba, Peter Mutharika says Kalani Mutharika is not his sibling but an imposter and a fraudster.

” The Public should know that in the family of Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, there were six children who survived into adulthood namely Jinnie, Lizzie, Bingu, Ida, Peter ( Our President), and Christina. Any person claims to be a sibling to the Mutharika family is a fraud and an imposter, ” reads the statement in part.

The statement from Mutharika comes barely few days after the leader of opposition who is also Democratic Progressive Party ( DPP)’s Southern region President Kondwani Nankhumwa visted Kalani Mutharika where he donated assorted items and pledged to build him a house.

Malawi Foreign Affairs to engage Diaspora on Real Estate Investment this Saturday

Ministry of Foreign affairs is encouraging Malawians to join a real Estate Webinar targeting Malawians in the Diaspora in order to encourage Diaspora, to buy land and information on infrastructure investments in the country.

In an official statement , John Kabaghe Foreign: Secretary For Foreign Affairs writes, I have the honour to inform you that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the various stakeholders will, on Saturday, 15th January, 2022, host a Webinar on Real Estate Investment for Malawians in Diaspora, and would like to request your assistance in disseminating the notice to Malawians resident in countries of your accreditation.

The Webinar has been organised to open communication channels between Malawians in Diaspora and various stakeholders in Malawi in the real estate sector in order to address questions and concerns that Malawians in Diaspora raise from time to time on the subject during interactions with Government.

21-year-old Jennifer Mtenje becomes first Malawian influencer to have one million followers on Tiktok

A twenty one year old South Africa based Malawian social media influencer Jennifer Mtenje has become first Malawian to reach one million followers on Tiktok.

In an interview, Mtenje who is also a brand ambassador for a fashion company in United States of America ( USA) said it took her time and hard work to gain such more followers.

She said she spent most of her time on the platform showcasing her different skills such as dancing, modeling and story telling.

” I invested a lot of time, effort and sacrifice myself to this. I believed in myself that one day I will make it. I have been always a hard worker. I spent most of my time on the plaform practicing and showcasing my skills so as to gain more followers. Indeed, hard work pays,” said Mtenje.

She revealed a secret that if one wants to have more followers on Tiktok ,one has to always entertain the audience, teach them how they can grow their Tiktok accounts and do what exactly they want and like.

Mtenje urged Malawians who are trying to have more followers on Tiktok to always work hard and have passionate about it.

” If you want to have more followers on Tiktok you should work hard and be passionate about it. Know your niche, believe in yourself, create your own profile, consistently post high quality contents, collaborate with others, think outside box and always have confidence that you can make it no matter what a challenge,” she said.

She said she is feels happy that she is a first person to have more Tiktok followers in Malawi and promises to do more than this.

” I am very grateful that I am the first Malawian to reach such huge number of followers on Tiktok. This is so encouraging and I promise to do more than this,” said Mtenje.

Mtenje said she is always inspired by a young South African Tiktoker Witney and wants to be more than like her in future.

She thanked all people who have been supporting her saying without them she would not be where she is today.

” Let me thank those who have been supporting me. For sure, without your support, I would not be where I am today . Continue giving me support for me to grow. I promise more tutorials on how one can grow his or her Tiktok account,” she said.

Tiktok is a social media platform used to create, share and and discover short videos. The app is mostly used by the young as an outlet to express themselves through dancing, singing, comedy and lip syncing. It allows users to create and share videos across the world through the smart phones.

When the user reaches 800 followers, the app allows him or her to go live which helps him or her to get various gifts from the audience or followers such as money and many others. It also provides an opportunity to collaborate with the companies who pay the Tiktok user so as they advertise their new products.
