By Vincent Gunde

Revolutionary leader of Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolutionary Party ( MRP) Bantu Saunders Jumah, has called on Parliament in Malawi to adopt Forfeiture Act so that all citizens of the country falls under it regardless of whether one is rich or poor.

Jumah said from 2020 – 2025 people in Malawi expected their country to be moving forward, changing from where it was to another level, but corruption has multiplied, politicians have find politics as a way for quick riches, making citizens to hate their country preferring to live in other countries.

He said Malawi has become a country of hate, there’s no good governance, people are running away to other countries observing that the Department of Immigration is collecting billions of Kwachas every day because Malawians are hating their country going to the second nation.

Speaking through a Revolutionary voice, Jumah said politics of Malawi is not about development but for quick riches and changing their lives saying until the day citizens vote for a patriotic passionate President, the country will be a paradise.

He said citizens in Malawi are voting for different personalities, but they are getting the same results, the country is experiencing corruption that has never been seen in the country before.

The Revolutionary leader said the revelations that have come from Greenbelt Authority and NEEF that billions and billions of Kwachas have been lost through pocket development, are very devastating speaking clearly that Malawi politicians do not love their country.

Jumah said government is confiscating property of those who borrowed one million from NEEF while those who borrowed K500 million are left out, saying this alone calls for Parliament to adopt Forfeiture Act for the whole country to change.

He has lamented that those whose property are being confiscated, borrowed one million Kwacha, they used the same to buy food, they did not have other alternatives of sustaining the one million Kwacha, today are on the run saying government is not for them but the riches.

” Changing names from MEDF to NEEF, Chileka Airport to Bakili Muluzi Airport is not development, we are busy stealing, exposing corruption without action,”  said Jumah.

He said while Malawians are busy politicking, stealing and involving themselves in corruption activities, other countries are busy preparing the future of their countries.

Jumah has finally reminded those who are busy politicking and stealing in government that without changing their mindset, there will be no future for the country and its citizens pleading with them to love their country that there will be no other Malawi apart from the Malawi they are having today.

FAM Unveils Two Season Calendar to Align Malawi Football with Global Standards

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has announced a bold step aimed at transforming the domestic game by releasing two football calendars for the 2026/2027 and 2027/2028 seasons.

FAM President Fleetwood Haiya said publishing the calendars in advance will give clubs enough time to prepare properly and adjust to gradual changes in the season’s starting period.

Haiya explained that the association is slowly shifting the football calendar to ensure that Malawi’s season aligns more closely with those of developed football nations.

Haiya

According to him, this alignment is critical for the growth and competitiveness of the local game.

The FAM boss emphasized that the changes are not abrupt but will be implemented step by step to avoid disrupting clubs, players and other stakeholders.

The goal is to create stability while modernizing the system.
One of the major challenges Malawi has faced over the years is the difficulty in transferring players to foreign clubs.

Haiya noted that mismatched season timelines have made it complicated for local talent to secure moves abroad.

In some cases, players have struggled during trials outside the country not because they lack ability, but because they travel at a time when the domestic season is on break. This often leaves them without competitive match fitness.

Haiya pointed out that when players go for trials during Malawi’s off-season, they are at a disadvantage compared to others who are actively competing in their respective leagues.

This has unfairly affected the chances of many talented footballers.

By synchronizing the calendar with international standards, FAM hopes to improve player mobility and make Malawian footballers more marketable on the global stage. The association believes this will open more doors for local stars.

The two calendar announcement also reflects FAM’s commitment to long-term planning rather than short term adjustments. Clubs will now be able to budget, recruit players, and organize pre season preparations with greater certainty.

At least seven villages in Karonga have been severely affected by flooding following heavy rains that caused rivers to burst their banks on 28 February this year.

According to the Karonga District Council, the flooding occurred along the North Rukulu River in the area of Paramount Chief Kyungu and along the Lufilya River under Senior Chief Kilipula, leaving several communities counting losses.

Council spokesperson George Mponda said authorities are still conducting assessments to establish the exact number of people affected by the disaster and to determine the extent of the damage caused.

He explained that some of the displaced families have been temporarily accommodated at a small health facility in the Kafikisira area within the district as they await further assistance.

Among the villages heavily impacted by the floods are Kwazi, Kambitoto, Kilupula, Mwaulambo, Mwanjasi, Mwangwera, Mwakasingira and Nsomba, where homes and property have reportedly been damaged.

The sudden rise in water levels forced many residents to flee their homes in search of safety, leaving behind belongings and in some cases losing crops and household items.

Authorities say the ongoing assessment will guide the council and its partners on the kind of humanitarian support required, including food, shelter and other basic necessities.

The council has since issued a strong warning to people living in flood prone areas to immediately relocate to safer grounds to avoid further risk as rains continue in some parts of the district.

Residents have also been urged to remain alert and follow official communication from government authorities and local leaders regarding safety measures.

Disaster management teams are closely monitoring the situation to prevent further harm and to ensure that vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly are protected.

Local leaders in the affected areas are working hand in hand with the district council to coordinate response efforts and keep communities informed about developments.

Goshen City Dedza Dynamos Unhappy With FAM’s Early Kick-Off Date for 2026/27 Season

Goshen City Dedza Dynamos have expressed dissatisfaction with the decision by the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) to start the new 2026/2027 football season on 18 April 2026.

The club believes the scheduled kick off date does not provide adequate time for rest and preparation, especially for teams that concluded last season’s competitions later than others.

General Secretary Kondwani Wiseman Banda said the team only wrapped up their previous campaign last week when they faced FCB Nyasa Big Bullets in the final round of the Castel Challenge Cup.

According to Banda, the tight turnaround between the end of last season and the start of the new one puts players at risk of fatigue and limits proper recovery time.

He argued that FAM should have taken into account clubs that finished their fixtures late, allowing them enough time to rest and plan adequately for the upcoming campaign.

Banda emphasized that player welfare is critical, adding that proper rest is essential for maintaining performance levels and preventing injuries.

Despite their concerns, the club’s leadership has indicated that they will hold internal discussions to map the way forward ahead of the new season.

The officials are expected to deliberate on when the team should resume training and how best to structure their pre-season preparations under the tight schedule.

In addition, Goshen City Dedza Dynamos are planning to reinforce their squad by recruiting new players to strengthen key areas.

The club is currently conducting a scouting exercise under the Goshen City Talent Identification programme, aimed at identifying promising players who can add depth and quality to the squad.

Last Thursday, FAM officially announced that the 2026/2027 season will begin with the Charity Shield on 18 April 2026.

The flagship FDH Bank Premiership is scheduled to kick off a week later, on 25 April 2026.

Police Hunt Driver Over K97.2 Million Soap Theft as Truck Is Abandoned in Lilongwe

Police in Lilongwe have launched a massive manhunt for a truck driver accused of masterminding a daring theft of powdered soap worth K97.2 million, in a case that has stunned the business community.

The suspect, identified as Daniel Chikwama, is alleged to have diverted and stolen 3,888 bags of powdered soap, each weighing 20 kilograms, on February 28, 2026.

According to Malawi Police Service, the consignment was legally assigned to Chikwama’s employer, Almeida Transport, which had dispatched him to collect the goods from Dar es Salaam Port in Tanzania for delivery to a designated location in Lilongwe.

However, instead of completing the assignment, the driver allegedly diverted the cargo upon entering the country and began selling the soap to various businesses.

In a dramatic twist, the truck registration number ZA 4015/PE 1661 was later discovered abandoned at Maula Filling Station in Lilongwe, with the keys left in the ignition, raising suspicion and triggering an immediate police investigation.

Detectives from Lilongwe Police Station moved swiftly and traced the distribution network of the stolen goods.

Their investigations led to the identification of two suspected individuals believed to have been connected to the illegal sale of the consignment.

The two suspects reportedly cooperated with authorities and guided officers to several recovery points, including a warehouse and multiple shops in Bwalolanjovu, Area 2.

Police have since recovered 3,562 bags of the stolen soap, valued at approximately K89 million, significantly reducing the financial loss.

Despite the recovery breakthrough, Daniel Chikwama remains at large, and authorities have intensified efforts to locate and arrest him.

Inspector Hastings Chigalu, Public Relations Officer for Lilongwe Police, confirmed the developments and urged members of the public with information on the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward and assist law enforcement agencies.

Police say investigations are ongoing, and more arrests could follow as they work to ensure that all those involved in the alleged theft face the full force of the law.
