MCP leaders urge Salima residents to re-elect Chakwera

By Burnett Munthali

Residents of Salima have been urged to vote for President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera in the upcoming presidential election this September to ensure continued development.

The call was made by the Minister of Agriculture, Sam Kawale, who is also a senior member of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) National Executive Committee.

Kawale made these remarks during a political rally held at Mchepa School in Khombedza, northern Salima.

MCP spokesperson Jessie Kabwila, who also serves as Minister of Higher Education, joined him at the rally alongside Minister of Energy Ibrahim Matola and other senior party officials.

All the leaders at the event emphasized the need for Salima residents to support Dr. Chakwera’s re-election bid.

On agricultural policies, Kawale assured the people that the government is committed to ensuring that every Malawian has access to adequate food.

He stressed that the government’s goal is to encourage people to treat farming as a business to maximize their agricultural productivity.

To support this vision, Kawale highlighted that the government has allocated significant funding to key agricultural financing institutions.

He specifically mentioned the Agricultural Commercialization (AGCOM) project and the National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF) as avenues through which farmers can access financial assistance.

Kawale assured the people that these investments would help transform Malawi’s agricultural sector by empowering local farmers.

The event was also attended by members of Parliament and traditional leaders from the district.

Their presence underscored the importance of the rally and the government’s effort to secure grassroots support for President Chakwera.

With the elections only a few months away, the MCP is intensifying its campaign efforts in rural areas like Salima.

The party is focusing on showcasing its development initiatives while urging voters to give Dr. Chakwera another term in office.

Political analysts believe that such engagements will be crucial in determining the election outcome, especially in key battleground districts.

As the campaign period heats up, all eyes will be on whether the MCP’s message resonates with the people of Salima.
