The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released the list of match officials for the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2025, set to take place from August 2-30, 2025, in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
Unfortunately, Malawian referees are noticeably absent from the list.
A total of 70 match officials have been selected, comprising 26 referees, 26 assistant referees, and 18 Video Match Officials (VMOs) from over 30 CAF Member Associations.

The selected referees include Ahmed Nagy Mosa Mahmoud from Egypt, Nyagrowa Dickens Mimisa from Kenya, and Ahmed Arajiga from Tanzania.

The absence of Malawian referees from the list has raised questions about the country’s refereeing standards and potential areas for improvement. CAF’s selection process aims to ensure that the best officials are chosen for the tournament.
The CHAN 2025 tournament promises to be an exciting event, featuring national teams consisting of players currently playing in their respective local leagues.
The tournament will kick off on August 2, 2025, with matches spread across Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, and Kampala, culminating in the final on August 30.
