The Ministry of Lands has called on the media to take a more proactive role in informing and educating the public on land reforms, the Land Information Management System (LIMS), and the ongoing devolution process.
The ministry’s Commissioner for Physical Planning, Robins Lukas,made the appeal during a sensitization meeting held in Salima for senior news editors on Wednesday.

Lukas emphasized that the media is not only a source of news but also a powerful platform for education, advocacy, and driving social change.
“The media is essential for disseminating information and educating the public.It plays a critical role in influencing positive change.
“As such, the ministry is committed to maintaining regular engagement with the media to enhance public awareness about land laws and other related issues,” he said.
On his part,Managing Editor of the Malawi News Agency (MANA),Tione Andsen,welcomed the initiative, noting that the meeting had deepened editors’ understanding of the new land laws.
He said this knowledge would help journalists better translate and communicate these legal reforms to communities across the country.
