President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment where youths, women, and other groups can thrive economically.

He made these remarks on Thursday at Hewe Trading Centre as he launched his whistle-stop campaign tour in Rumphi District.

During his address, President Chakwera emphasized the role of institutions like the National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF), which are currently offering business loans aimed at supporting the youth in achieving financial independence through sustainable enterprises.

The President further unveiled his administration’s long-term plan to transform NEEF into an investment bank, a move he believes will empower even more Malawians economically.

He also outlined his vision for enhancing the mining sector in Malawi, stating that developing this industry could significantly increase government revenue and ultimately improve the lives of ordinary citizens.

In addition, Chakwera highlighted his government’s ongoing efforts to improve access to clean water, particularly in schools and health facilities, as part of a broader push for social development.

Earlier at the same event, Senior Chief Katumbi expressed gratitude to the President for elevating traditional leaders and improving their welfare, noting that these efforts have positively impacted rural communities.

As part of his tour, President Chakwera is also expected to make whistle-stop visits at Mwazisi, Bolero, Rumphi Boma, and Mhuju, where he will continue engaging with citizens and promoting his development agenda.
