NTCHEU – In a powerful address marking the International Day of the Girl Child, Her Royal Highness Inkosikazi Khanyisa Rishaladza Gomani V of the Maseko Ngoni has called upon young women in Ntcheu District to dedicate themselves to their studies and become architects of positive change in their communities.

The Queen Mother delivered her message at a commemorative event held at the Lizulu Primary School grounds, an event organized under the theme “The girl I am; the change I lead.” She inspired the gathered girls, affirming their inherent strength to reshape the world around them.

She further issued a strong advisory, encouraging girls to report any incidents of Gender Based Violence to the relevant authorities without hesitation.

In a significant move demonstrating her commitment, Inkosikazi Khanyisa accepted an invitation to join a local Lizulu role models group. The group’s representative, Velina Lumwira, a nurse at Lizulu Health Centre, echoed the royal call to action. She challenged the girls to dream ambitiously and to strive to become examples of success originating from their own area.

Allan Mkungula, the Primary Education Advisor for the Lizulu zone, provided context on the local educational landscape. He acknowledged that certain business activities at the Lizulu market continue to pose challenges to girls’ educational attainment. Despite these hurdles, Mkungula reported that the zone has made positive strides and continues to excel within the district in national examination results.
