By Chisomo Phiri

Portland Cement Limited (PCL) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting children’s healthcare in the country with a K5 million donation to Beit Cure Children’s Hospital ahead of the hospital’s annual fundraising dinner scheduled for October 31, 2025.

The contribution will help fund life-changing orthopaedic and reconstructive surgeries for 120 children with treatable disabilities, covering both surgical and post-operative care.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday,PCL Chief Executive Officer(CEO ) Jiangou said the company considers the donation part of its ongoing corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts aimed at uplifting vulnerable communities.

“Every year, we take part in community initiatives that make a tangible difference in people’s lives.

“Supporting children with disabilities aligns perfectly with our values and our mission to contribute positively to society,” he said.

On her part,Beit Cure Children’s Hospital Executive Director  Rhoda Kriek expressed deep appreciation for the support, noting that the funds will help the hospital reach more children in need of specialised care.

“We currently have a three-month waiting list and often exceed our 50-bed capacity, with more than 200 children visiting the hospital each day. This donation will go a long way toward easing treatment costs and expanding our impact,” said Kriek.

Beit Cure Children’s Hospital provides free orthopaedic and reconstructive surgeries for children from across Malawi, restoring mobility and hope to thousands of families each year.
