Financial services institution FINCA Malawi has unveiled a MK100 million sponsorship package for the Southern Region Football League for the 2026 season under the theme “2026 Mpira Uyake.”
The sponsorship, which was officially announced during an unveiling ceremony, is aimed at strengthening football development in the Southern Region while promoting financial inclusion among communities connected to the competition.
According to FINCA Malawi, MK40 million of the total sponsorship will go directly towards supporting the administration and running of the league throughout the 2026 season.

The financial support is expected to enhance the organisation of the competition and ensure that the league continues producing some of the country’s most exciting football talent.
The institution believes the sponsorship will also help improve the competitiveness of teams participating in the Southern Region Football League.
Meanwhile, the remaining MK60 million from the sponsorship package will be invested in promotional activities and financial inclusion initiatives linked to the competition.
Through these initiatives, FINCA Malawi plans to roll out a series of programmes designed to empower communities involved in the league.
Among the planned activities are financial literacy awareness campaigns aimed at helping people better understand saving, borrowing and managing finances.
The institution will also provide communities with access to savings and loan products while engaging local businesses operating within areas where the participating teams come from.
FINCA Malawi says the partnership is designed not only to entertain football fans but also to use the sport as a platform for economic empowerment and opportunities within the communities connected to the league.
