Sparc Systems Unveils Bold Plan to Turn Nation Into Africa’s Next Digital Export Hub

By Durell Namasani

Sparc Systems Limited has announced an ambitious strategy aimed at transforming Malawi into a major exporter of digital solutions and ICT services across Africa, leveraging the continent’s rapidly expanding digital economy.

During a presentation at the ICT Association of Malawi Expo 2026, Wisely Phiri, group managing director of Sparc Systems, highlighted key opportunities for local businesses and outlined the investments required for Malawi to compete on a regional scale.

Phiri revealed that Malawi’s ICT services exports surged from $70 million in 2020 to $154 million in 2023, a clear sign of the country’s emerging role as a technology hub.

“We’ve moved beyond proving that Malawian tech companies can compete,” Phiri stated. “The export numbers are real, the demand is there, and the infrastructure is being put in place.”

Among the company’s flagship solutions is Comply Quest, an anti-money laundering and compliance tool.

Originally founded in Malawi, Sparc Systems now operates in Zambia, Tanzania, Mozambique, and Rwanda. The firm specializes in enterprise infrastructure, cloud computing, cybersecurity, software development, digital transformation, data center services, and ICT training.
