MISA Malawi Demands Justice for Assaulted Journalists

By Staff Reporter

The Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Malawi has called on police and the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to take action after three journalists were assaulted by suspected party supporters in Blantyre on Sunday.

In a statement,MISA Malawi is demanding accountability following the alleged attacks, which have renewed concerns about journalists’ safety while carrying out their professional duties.

The incident has drawn attention to the responsibility of political parties to discourage violence among their supporters and the duty of law-enforcement agencies to investigate alleged assaults impartially.

The call also highlights the importance of protecting press freedom and ensuring journalists can report on political and public events without intimidation or physical harm.

MISA Malawi’s demand adds to calls for a thorough investigation, with any individuals found responsible expected to face appropriate action under the law.
