Atupele Muluzi Calls for Thorough Probe into Drone Incident at Vice President’s Residence

United Democratic Front (UDF) President Atupele Muluzi has broken his silence on the recent security breach at the official residence of Vice President Dr. Jane Ansah, urging police to conduct a “thorough and professional investigation” into the matter.

In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, Muluzi revealed he has been following the arrest of a suspect allegedly involved in flying a drone over the VP’s residence with “keen interest.”

While refraining from prejudging the case, the former presidential candidate emphasized that the safety of the country’s second-in-command is non-negotiable. He called on the Malawi Police Service to provide a clear and comprehensive account of the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“The security and safety of the Vice President are non-negotiable. It is therefore critical that this matter is handled with the seriousness it deserves, and that appropriate measures are put in place to ensure that such incidents are prevented going forward,” Muluzi wrote.

The UDF leader expressed full trust and confidence in law enforcement agencies to carry out their duties diligently. He added that the party expects the police to ensure the Vice President remains fully protected at all times, enabling her to effectively carry out her constitutional responsibilities.

Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the identity of the suspect or the potential motive behind the drone flight. However, security experts note that unauthorized drone activity near protected state residences is a serious violation of national security protocols.
