Blue Eagles appoints Deklerk Msakakuona as interim coach

By Jones Gadama

In a bid to steer the team forward, Blue Eagles Football Club has appointed Deklerk Msakakuona as the interim coach, following the resignation of Elias Kananji. Kananji, who had been at the helm since 2021, stepped down on May 29, 2025, citing undisclosed reasons.

Msakakuona, who will be assisted by his son, Steve Sloan Msakakuona as his deputy, brings a wealth of experience to the team.

The duo’s appointment comes at a crucial time for Blue Eagles, who currently sit fourth in the TNM Super League with 11 points from seven matches.

The team’s next challenge is a crucial encounter with Ekhaya FC at the Nankhaka Stadium in Lilongwe. With the new coaching setup, Blue Eagles will be looking to bounce back and make a statement in the league.

The appointment of Msakakuona and his son is seen as a strategic move to provide stability and guidance to the team during this transition period.

Fans and stakeholders alike will be watching closely to see how the new coaching duo will shape the team’s performance in the upcoming matches.
