President Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has safely arrived in Harare, Zimbabwe, to participate in a crucial one-day Southern African Development Community (SADC) conference.
The Malawian leader’s visit underscores his commitment to regional cooperation and dialogue among SADC member states.
Chakwera’s arrival was marked by a warm reception from Zimbabwean officials and Malawi’s diplomatic representatives based in Harare.

The one-day conference brings together heads of state and government, with the aim of discussing pressing regional matters including economic integration, peace and security, and climate resilience.
President Chakwera is expected to use the platform to reiterate Malawi’s position on strengthening unity within the SADC bloc and advocating for sustainable development initiatives.
The high-level gathering comes at a time when the region faces various socio-economic challenges, including the after-effects of cyclones, rising inflation, and persistent food insecurity.
Leaders are also expected to deliberate on the political situation in member states where instability has threatened progress and democratic governance.
President Chakwera, who chairs several sub-committees within SADC, is anticipated to engage in key bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the conference.
This latest trip reflects Malawi’s active role in shaping regional policy and its dedication to collective solutions for shared challenges.
Further updates on the outcomes of the summit and Malawi’s contributions will be shared as the event unfolds.
