President Dr.Lazarus Chakwera on Wednesday donated K50 million to the Malawi National Football Team, the Flames, to support their participation in the ongoing 2025 Cosafa Cup in Bloemfontein, South Africa.
The gesture follows a meeting between the President and Football Association of Malawi(FAM ) President Fleetwood Haiya.
During the meeting,Chakwera wished the Flames success in their upcoming match against Lesotho.
He also accepted FAM’s invitation to serve as Patron for both the Flames and Scorchers.
In this role, the president will lead national efforts to provide moral, financial, and material support to the teams.
The Flames kick off their 2025 Hollywoodbets COSAFA Cup campaign against Lesotho today June 5,2025, then face Namibia three days later before wrapping up the group stage with a clash against Angola on June 10,2025.
