Chakwera joins Monkey Bay Assemblies of God Church for prayers

By Linda Kwanjana

State President Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has demonstrated to be a leader who fears God.

As a matter of background ,  for the unbeliever, the fear of God is the fear of the judgment of God and eternal death, which is eternal separation from God (Luke 12:5; Hebrews 10:31). For the believer, the fear of God is something much different. The believer’s fear is reverence of God. Hebrews 12:28-29 is a good description of this: “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our ’God is a consuming fire.’” This reverence and awe are exactly what the fear of God means for Christians. This is the motivating factor for President Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera to surrender to the Creator of the Universe.

The president never misses church sessions each and every passing Sunday.  That is why this morning the President joined congrigants at Monkey-Bay Assemblies of God Church in the Lakeshore District of Mangochi, where he attended a service of worship.

President Chakwera was accompanied by First Lady Madam Monica Chakwera, as well as several other top government officials including Presidential Advisor on Religious Affairs Reverend Brian Kamwendo.

Chakwera was welcomed on arrival by Monkey Bay Assemblies of God Church Resident Pastor, Bishop Favour Chirwa.

Since coming into office in the year 2020, President Chakwera has attended Church services across the country, in various religious institutions, in his quest to promote collaboration between the faith community and government.

President Chakwera is in the Eastern Region where he is undertaking various public engagements.
