Police in Dowa have arrested a 33-year-old clinician, Isoken Bond, for allegedly stealing medical supplies from Dowa District Hospital.

The incident occurred on May 5, 2025, within the hospital premises.

According to hospital authorities, the male ward in-charge, Gloria Mwanyari, was on duty with the suspect at the time of the incident.

Around 10:00 hours, Mwanyari observed that Bond had locked himself inside the drug store, raising suspicions.

Upon checking in the drug store, she discovered a bag containing medicine allegedly packed by the suspect.

The matter was initially reported to the hospital’s management, who later  informed the police on May 15, 2025.

Following investigations, police visited the scene, arrested the suspect, and recovered the stolen medical supplies.

However, the exact value of the recovered drugs has not been disclosed.

Bond is expected to appear in court soon to answer charges of theft by servant.

He hails from Tiimbenawo Village, Traditional Authority Chapananga, in Chikwawa District.
