By Rahim Abdul

The scorching effects of the El NiƱo-induced drought seem to be easing for over 4,500 households in Salima, thanks to the government’s timely intervention.

The Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA) has launched a maize distribution programme, targeting vulnerable families who were severely affected by the dry spells.

For many residents, the maize distribution is a welcome relief, coming at a time when food is scarce and prices are skyrocketing.

The programme, which aims to benefit 37,753 households across Salima, is a testament to the government’s commitment to supporting those in need.

As the maize distributions continue, residents are expressing gratitude for the government’s efforts to mitigate the effects of the drought.

The programme is not only providing much-needed food but also offering hope for a better future.

The El NiƱo Response Programme is a crucial step towards ensuring food security for vulnerable communities in Salima.
