The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has taken swift action by suspending its executive committee member, Daud Mtathiko, amid serious allegations of sexual misconduct.
The alleged incident is reported to have occurred during the Scorchers’ recent trip to South Africa.
FAM made the announcement in a statement released on Sunday, emphasizing the seriousness with which it is treating the matter.

In the same statement, the association also addressed and dismissed circulating claims suggesting that Mtathiko is currently with the Malawi Schools Team in Accra, Ghana.
“Mr. Mtathiko is currently under suspension pending investigations into the allegations levelled against him. As such, he is not part of the delegation in Ghana,” the statement clarified.
The development comes shortly after FAM confirmed it had initiated a formal investigation into the alleged misconduct.
The association’s move underscores its commitment to upholding integrity and accountability within its ranks, particularly when handling issues of a sensitive nature such as sexual misconduct.
As investigations proceed, FAM has assured the public of transparency and due process in addressing the allegations against Mtathiko.
