Former Immigration Chief Snatched at Airport Hours After Returning from Medical Trip!

By Durell Namasani

In a dramatic early morning arrest that has sent shockwaves through the capital, police have detained former Immigration Chief Brigadier General Charles Kalumo (retired) moments after he touched down at Kamuzu International Airport.

The retired top official had just stepped off a flight from South Africa, where he had reportedly gone for a medical checkup, when he was met by waiting law enforcement agents and taken into custody.

Kalumo’s lawyer, Chrispine Ndalama, confirmed the arrest to our news team just minutes ago but revealed a troubling lack of information from police.

“I am yet to get reasons for the arrest of Kalumo,” Ndalama stated, expressing frustration at the secrecy surrounding his client’s detention.

According to the lawyer, the former Immigration Chief was immediately transported to the National Police Headquarters in Lilongwe, where he is currently being held.

The arrest marks a stunning fall from grace for Kalumo, who once oversaw the country’s borders and immigration systems. The circumstances surrounding his detention remain shrouded in mystery, with authorities maintaining strict silence on the matter.

Questions are mounting about whether this arrest is connected to his tenure at the Immigration Department or related to other matters. Kalumo’s medical trip to South Africa and his arrest immediately upon return have raised eyebrows among political observers.

With his lawyer still in the dark and police refusing to comment, the nation now waits anxiously for answers about why this former security chief was snatched so soon after seeking medical treatment abroad.
