The International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) has called on journalists in the country to thoroughly investigate, verify, and fact-check information related to Public Financial Management (PFM) before publishing it.
Speaking at a recent 3-day Investigative Journalism Workshop in Lilongwe, one of the facilitators,Joseph Mwenda,emphasized the crucial role of investigative journalism in governance.

Mwenda encouraged journalists to enhance their knowledge of PFM and stay updated on the latest tools and techniques in investigative journalism, which are rapidly evolving with technology.
On his part,one of the participating journalists,Pemphero Malimba, appreciated the training, highlighting the new skills gained in interpreting and analyzing audit reports for accurate reporting.
The workshop, which ran from June 4 to 6, 2025, brought together journalists and audit experts to strengthen reporting on public finance issues.
