Preparations for the highly anticipated Amai Aphake Life Promotion are in full swing, according to Kalipano Hotel’s Digital and Marketing Manager, Kondwani Nyamasauka.
The grand event is scheduled for October 15, 2025, at the beautiful Kalipano Hotel in Dedza and is expected to bring together food enthusiasts, professional chefs and families for a day of creativity, entertainment, and empowerment.
Nyamasauka explained that this year’s edition of the promotion is aimed at celebrating the role of women in shaping family life through food.
The event is organized under the theme “Empowering Women Through Taste and Tradition,” reflecting Kalipano Hotel’s ongoing commitment to promoting local talent, culture, and innovation in the hospitality industry.
A major highlight of the event will be a thrilling eating competition featuring the popular culinary influencer Spanner Malawi, alongside local chefs and food brands such as Ma Idyables.
The contest will showcase a mix of traditional Malawian dishes and modern recipes, giving participants a platform to display their eating skills and creativity before a live audience.

Nyamasauka said interest in the competition has been overwhelming, with 20 participants already registered to compete against Spanner Malawi.
He noted that the contest has generated excitement across social media, as many people look forward to seeing if anyone can outshine the charismatic eating known for his humor and unique approach to local cuisine.
“This event is not just about food; it’s about passion, creativity and community. We are proud to provide a space where local talent can shine and where families can come together to enjoy something uniquely Malawian,” said Nyamasauka.
Kalipano Hotel has revealed that the Amai Aphake Life Promotion will also feature live music performances, cultural dances and children’s activities, making it an all-round family event. There will be food exhibitions, tasting sessions, and giveaways from local companies supporting the initiative.
The event is expected to attract key figures from Malawi’s hospitality and entertainment industries, as well as representatives from local brands who will display their products and engage with customers.
