Malawian entrepreneur develops online shopping platform

By Chisomo Phiri

A UAE-based Malawian entrepreneur, Maxwell Kameta, has developed an online marketplace, Dream Weave, aimed at making cross-border online shopping safer and more accessible for Malawians by allowing payments in local currency.

In an interview with 247 Malawi News,Kameta said the platform has been developed in response to growing concerns over online fraud, which has seen many Malawians lose money when purchasing goods from international sellers.

He said the platform enables customers to order products directly from Dubai at any time, with deliveries handled within a reliable and predictable timeframe.

Kameta said the mobile application, expected to be launched soon, will offer a user-friendly interface and strengthened security features designed to protect users’ accounts.

He said the platform will also be supported by physical offices in Lilongwe and Blantyre to enhance customer trust and service delivery.

Beyond improving consumer safety, Kameta said the initiative is also intended to create employment opportunities for young people, contributing to efforts to address Malawi’s high unemployment rate.
