Malawians including gospel musicians have taken to social media to mourn the sudden death of Reverend Macdonald Phulusa of the Living Waters Church International who who was murdered in Soweto, South Africa on Saturday evening.
Musicians Allan Chirwa, Eliza Mponya and Ellen Mtonga are some of Malawians who paid their tribute to the late Reverend Phulusa.
According to a statement signed by Reverend AZ Mphande who is the General Secretary of the Church in South Africa, Reverend Phulusa was shot dead by thugs at around 5 o’clock in the evening on Saturday.
” Our heartfelt condolences to Apostle Dr S.S Ndovie and Apostle J. Ndovie, Prophet Dr B Chapo, The Board of Trustees, the family and the whole Living Waters Church International for the untimely death. May the Lord comfort you and let us stand with the family during this difficult time,” reads the statement in part.
Reverend Phulusa was today (Sunday, 22nd June, 2025) expected to be the Guest of Honour at a Youth Sunday ceremony at Living Waters Church International South Africa Johannesburg,CBD.
Meanwhile, Police in South Africa say the matter is under investigation and the general public will be updated accordingly in due course.
