MZUNI signs MoU with Soka University in Japan

By Chisomo Phiri

Mzuzu University (MZUNI) on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Soka University in Tokyo, Japan, an agreement that will see the two institutions collaborate on joint research and other academic activities.

The MoU was signed in Japan by Mzuni Vice-Chancellor, Professor Wales Singini, and Soka University President, Mika Suzuki, during a ceremony witnessed by Malawi’s Director of Science and Technology, Chomora Mikeka.

In his remarks during the agreement signing ceremony, Singini said the partnership will allow the two universities to engage in various collaborative initiatives, depending on resource availability and institutional priorities.

“These initiatives will include staff exchanges, sharing of academic resources, and consultative engagements, among others,” he said.

On her part, Suzuki noted that over the past 11 years, Soka University has advanced its globalisation efforts and was selected for Japan’s ‘Top Global University Project.’

The partnership was made possible through the facilitation of the Malawi Embassy in Japan.
