NBS Bank and the Renewable Energy Industry Association of Malawi (REIAMA) on Thursday June 19,2025 signed a partnership to develop innovative financing solutions for the renewable energy sector.
Speaking at the agreement signing ceremony in Lilongwe,REIAMA President Brave Mhone, said the collaboration aims to address the industry’s challenges in accessing suitable financial products.
Mhone highlighted that the sector suffers from low financing due to banks’ limited understanding of the industry.
On his part,NBS Bank Private and Personal Banking Senior Manager Melvin Donga described the partnership as ‘game-changing,’ saying it will enable the development of tailored financing solutions for renewable energy projects, supporting Malawi’s energy transition agenda.
NBS Bank is a fully-fledged commercial bank providing various financial services to individuals, small and medium businesses, large corporations and public institutions.
The bank was incorporated as a limited company on March 14,2003 and was registered under the Banking Act 1989 on March 1 2004.
It started its commercial banking operations on July 1 2004.
