Chakwera, Mutharika silence on Political Violence worrisome- Bon Kalindo

0

By Vincent Gunde

Political activist Bon Elias Kalindo has warned President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera and former President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika that their silence not to speak against their members inciting violence in the country is a recipe for breeding war in Malawi.

Kalindo has noted with a great concern that allowing youth to circulate video clips of inciting violence without condemning them, is painting a bad picture to both leaders Chakwera and Mutharika for being behind supporting political violence in Malawi.

No arrests yet of the Lilongwe violence from weeks ago

He said the demonstrations which were organized by vendors in Lilongwe marching to Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) offices without notice, is a clear example that Malawians are slowly going to war against those calling themselves servant leaders.

Speaking through an audio clip circulating in various social media platforms, Kalindo said on 24th February, 2024 a number of vehicles had their window screens smashed, parts stolen during MCP thugs disrupting DPP Blue Convoy Parade in Lilongwe asking the DPP what has it done to console owners of the vehicles?

Kalindo has also asked the MCP what has it done to its three members who died after being attacked by DPP members while revenging against MCP thugs for unleashing terror disrupting DPP Blue Convoy Parade in Lilongwe.

He has also asked the MCP the reasons behind treating the dead bodies who died during the fracas in secret to condole their family members on their untimely death, saying this secret will not live forever, the truth will come out in as soon as yesterday.

The activist said owners of vehicles destroyed during the fracas and families of the those who died from the fracas, will one day join forces to turn against the two parties for not doing justice to them praying that the two parties are prudently using their emergency funds in the interest of all.

“DPP must do something to console vehicle owners with emergency funds and MCP must account for the death of its members sponsored to disrupt peaceful DPP Blue Convoy Parade,” said Kalindo.

He has thanked vendors in Lilongwe for sending a strong message to President Chakwera,s government and State House that vendors are sailing through troubled hearts and this is a wake-up call to President Chakwera that he is being deceived of the situation on the ground.

Kalindo has caution those that are declaring Lilongwe a no -go district to activists and opposition parties to go back to the drawing board that time to give notices to the City authorities and police of the intentions to hold mass protests are over, government must bless itself for demonstrations without notices.

He has finally sent messages of greetings to police at Area 30, Kasungu, Salima and Nkhotakota that he has been reliably informed that plans are underway to kill him saying he is ready for that and his death will mark a new revolution in Malawi claiming that many Kalindo’s will be born just the same as what Lilongwe vendors did without notices.

According to Dimba, cannabis is an economic crop which can bring fortunes to the country, in terms of forex generation.

He said according to research, cannabis has capacity to generate  200 million dollars annually on starting and 700 million dollars once the cultivation of the crop stabilizes.

Various members of parliament supported Dimba’s motion.

Malawi has long been relying on tobacco cultivation, which accounts for about 13% of its gross domestic product and 60% of its foreign exchange earnings.

But over the years, tobacco prices have fallen, largely because of anti-smoking campaigns championed by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the proven link between tobacco use and cancer.
