By McLloyd Kudzingo

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets claimed a historic quadruple trophy haul on Saturday at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre, after beating Mafco FC 2-1 to win Airtel Top 8 Cup, Season 6.

Lanjesi Nkhoma was the hero of the day after claiming a brace to seal yet another title for the People’s team who had already won Super League title, FDH Cup and Castel Challenge Cup.

The People’s team got their first chance in the game just 6 minutes from kick off when Maxwell Phodo headed over the cross bar from a rebound after Mafco goalkeeper Christopher Mikuwa fumbled a Patrick Mwaungulu’s free-kick.

Mafco almost took the lead in the 10th minute when Mphatso Phillimon was found unmarked in the six yard box but his header went over the cross bar.

Prince Kachere who equalized for Mafco during a semi-final clash against Silver Strikers, missed a golden opportunity when he was found unmarked in the six yard box, only to shoot wide when the goalkeeper was already beaten.

Nkhoma broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute as he scored with a simple tap in after he was found unmarked following an Anthony Nfune’s brilliant cross.

The Salima-based soldiers equalised in the 34th minute through an own goal by Nickson Nyasulu who connected into his own goal, a well taken free-kick by Aubrey Chafewa following a communication breakdown between himself (Nyasulu), Clyde Senaji and goalkeeper Clever Mkungula.

In the second half, Mafco got their first chance in the 46th minute through Philmon but just just like Kachere in the first half, he fired wide from a close range.

Bullets had a chance to reclaim the lead in the 50th minute through Patrick Mwaungulu but his shot was again beautifully saved by Mikuwa.

In the 70th minute, Bullets were awarded a penalty by referee Mayamiko Kanjere after Chafewa fouled Phodo in the penalty box.

The own goal scorer, Nyasulu stepped in to take the penalty, perhaps to have his sins forgiven, but unfortunately it didn’t go as planned.

Mikuwa saved Nyasulu’s penalty but the defender has Lanjesi Nkhoma to thank as he scored from a rebound to put his side back in the lead.

Despite the goal, Mafco continued to play with confidence and they almost got an equalizer in the added time but Peter Kasonga’s header went wide.

After the match, Nkhoma was voted man of the match but that was not the only thing that he achieved as he has also finished the tournament as the Top Goal Scorer having netted three goals.

In a related development, Bullets defender Yamikani Fodya has announced his retirement from active football after playing for the club for 14 years.

Muvi wa Chilungamo approved as 14th political party in Malawi

By Vincent Gunde

After struggling to register as a new political party in Malawi since May 3, 2023, the Registrar of political parties in Malawi has finally approved Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolutionary Party (MRP) to become the 14th registered political party in his books.

Muvi wa Chilungamo formerly, Malawi Engagement Group (MAENGA) led by the late Dr. Hazwell Bandawe, has been instrumental in giving advice to the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) for it to do better walking together with Malawians to develop the country from abstract poverty to prosperity.

Some senior members of the DPP thought it wise to themselves not to be engaged by Muvi wa Chilungamo for the fact that those that were leading the Engagement Group had no names in the political history of Malawi.

Bantu Saunders Jumah

In 2021, Muvi wa Chilungamo graduated from a social media group to a pressure group after engaging the MCP-led-Tonse Alliance government to do better but it took its own direction making the citizens lose trust in the leadership of President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera and his Vice, Dr. Saulosi Klaus Chilima.

Announcing to continental citizens and Malawians, senior citizens and Pan-Africanists on the birth of Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolutionary Party (MRP) to the Republic of Malawi in a press statement, its President Bantu Saunders Jumah, has assured Malawians that MRP is a group of Revolutionaries and game changers.

Jumah says MRP is a group of people who are realists and the only HOPE for the future of Africa and new Malawi saying it has come to be the first political party in Malawi to kill and bury all these ills and discrepancies.

He has assured patriotic Malawians that MRP has not come to add numbers of parties or increase the volume of impunity, corruption, nepotism, favoritism, tribalism, patriarch and regionalism urging all to join and support it.

The MRP President says Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolutionary Party (MRP) is born registered on the 22nd December, 2023 having satisfied the National Planning Commission (NPC) guidelines and rules followed by the requirements of the laws of Malawi.

He says MRP is a new political party in Malawi, born with new thinking based on Mindset Change and the philosophy of REALISM which is known as the Utopian informing patriotic Malawians that its offices are in Blantyre at Phekani House opposite Chibisa House along Sir Glyn Jones Road advising media houses to contact them on the following numbers; +265888897476 or +265999462772.

“Long live Democracy and welcome the African Revolution and Renaissance, Malawi will never be the same,” reads part of the statement.
