KB hires Temwa Msuku as Assistant Coach

Kamuzu Barracks Football Club has appointed Temwa Msikwa as the team’s First Assistant Coach replacing Denis Kambewa.

According to a statement on the team’s Facebook page, Kambewa has been demoted to the position of Second Assistant Coach replacing Blessings Kwanga who has been assigned other duties at the Army headquarters.

However, the Yellow Submarines have maintained  Charles Kamanga as the team’s Head Coach.

The development comes just a day after the team’s 2-nil loss to Chitipa United in the Airtel Top 8.

The team has also been struggling in the recent games in the TNM Super League.

Likoma, Chitipa, Mzuzu, and Karonga among top 10 best performing education districts in MSCE results

Likoma, Chitipa, Mzuzu City (Mzimba), and Karonga are among the top 10 best-performing districts in the recently released Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) exam results.

The Central Region has also secured two spots, with Lilongwe City and Ntchisi ranking among the top-performing districts.

Meanwhile, the Southern Region claims three of the top 10 spots, with Blantyre, Nsanje, and Mulanje making the list.

Presenting the results on Monday September 16,2024, MANEB Executive Director Dorothy Nampota revealed that 177,434 students sat for the 2024 MSCE exams.

She said out of this, 97,222 candidates have passed, translating to a pass rate of 54.79%.

Nampota said this shows a slight improvement from the 2023 pass rate of 54.40%.

She indicated that among the successful candidates, 56,415 are male, and 40,807 are female.

She said Zomba Urban is the highest-performing district with a 69.7% pass rate, while Machinga ranked lowest with a pass rate of 47.3%.

The top 10 best-performing districts, in descending order, are as follows:

1. Zomba Urban – 69.7%
2. Lilongwe City – 68.43%
3. Likoma – 66.67%
4. Chitipa – 66.67%
5. Blantyre – 64.45%
6. Mzuzu City – 63.71%
7. Dedza – 63.11%
8. Karonga – 61.87%
9. Mulanje – 61.12%
10. Ntchisi – 60.98%
11. Nsanje – 60.86%

DPP accepts apology from Honorable Gladys Ganda

The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has officially announced its acceptance of an apology from Honorable Gladys Ganda, MP for Nsanje, following remarks she made at a gathering in Sorjin. In a press statement dated September 16, 2024, the party acknowledged Ganda’s regret over her comments and commended her for taking responsibility and showing genuine remorse.

The DPP emphasized that the decision to appoint Honorable Ganda as a special presidential advisor was made after thorough consideration and with the party’s best interests in mind. Despite the controversy surrounding her remarks, the DPP reaffirmed its decision, stating that she will continue to serve in the role.

“The DPP believes in forgiveness,” the statement noted, adding that the party is confident Ganda will continue to carry out her duties with diligence and sensitivity.

UTM’s NRC youth wing to visit patients at Bwaila hospital

The United Transformation Movement (UTM) Youth Wing at the Natural Resources College (NRC) will visit patients at Bwaila Hospital on September 21,2024.

The visit is part of their plan to help and support the patients through donations and charity work.

This activity is part of the changes that UTM’s Director of Youth, Penjani Kalua, also known as Fredokiss, has been pushing for.

Fredokiss has been encouraging the youth to get involved in helping their communities and making a difference.

He recently reminded young people how important it is to take part in activities that can improve people’s lives.

The hospital visit shows how the youth are taking action to help others.

Everyone is welcome to support by donating items or money to help the patients.

Donations can start from as little as K200.

UTM’s Khumbo Billy Banda donates two vehicles to enhance community services in Blantyre

In a gesture of goodwill and commitment to community development, UTM’s Khumbo Billy Banda has donated two vehicles to support community services in Blantyre.

The donation, which includes a minibus and an ambulance, aims to address the challenges faced by residents in accessing healthcare and other essential services.

Banda, who is a strong advocate for community development, handed over the vehicles at a ceremony held in Lirangwe, Blantyre.


He expressed his concern about the difficulties faced by residents in accessing healthcare services due to the lack of reliable transportation.

“I was touched by the challenges faced by our people in accessing healthcare services,” Banda said.
He added, “As a leader, I believe it is my responsibility to find solutions to these problems that is why I have decided to donate these vehicles to support our community.”

The minibus will serve as an ambulance, providing emergency transportation to patients in need of medical attention.

The vehicle will also be used to transport patients to healthcare facilities, reducing the burden on families who often struggle to find reliable transportation.

The second vehicle, a pickup truck, will be used for various community development projects, including agriculture and infrastructure development.

The vehicle will also be used to support disaster response efforts, providing critical assistance during times of need.

Senior group Mkumba of  traditional authority Lundu, praised Banda’s gesture, saying it would go a long way in supporting community development initiatives.

“This is a timely donation,  Our community faces numerous challenges, and this donation will help alleviate some of these problems. We are grateful for Banda’s support,” Mkumba said.

Banda’s donation is part of his broader commitment to community development.
