Muvi wa Chilungamo claims Malawi’s economy in shambles

By Vincent Gunde

President and Commander in Chief of Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolutionary Party (MRP),Bantu Saunders Jumah, says Malawi’s economy has slowed down and the currency has lost value.

He says the problems in Malawi are three times more than under the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) government, noting that the current government has no experience in governance.

According to Jumah, the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) government has collapsed because it is exporting less and importing more. President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s promises and pledges have played no impact on the country and its citizens.

He says the national debt has reached K18 trillion, of which K15.1 trillion was borrowed by President Chakwera and his MCP in 4 years in government.

Jumah claims that there is nothing to show for the K15.1 trillion debt in terms of benefits to the country and its citizens.

Speaking through a Revolutionary voice in various social media platforms, Jumah says President Chakwera has become a frequent traveler, visiting Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Italy, Germany, Lower Shire States, and soon the UN General Assembly in the USA.

The MRP President says President Chakwera has made no signs that he can stop traveling and borrowing money for consumption and luxuries, which has put citizens in debt.

He says the K18 trillion debt means that every Malawian, including newborns, owes the international community K758,000 each.

Jumah also claims that the government is selling Likoma and Chizumulu Islands to the highest bidders, advising Malawians to be aware that their land is being sold.

He further claims that the DPP sold part of Lake Malawi for a National Park, which led to fishermen being arrested and prosecuted for fishing in their own lake.

He says that the MCP wants to do the same with Likoma Island.

Jumah says that politicians are taking the country for granted, with 65 Principal Secretaries for 29 Ministries accommodating Alliance partners.

He believes that the country is being led by bad leaders.

Jumah emphasizes that Muvi wa Chilungamo is not a group of politicians but revolutionaries.

He has since advised Malawians that the Alliance of political parties is a solution to 50+1 majority votes but not a solution to bring better government.

Bangwe All Stars’ 1-0 win against FCB Nyasa Big Bullets at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre on Saturday has given them confidence that they can leave the relegation zone.

Although the team remains in 15th position with 15 points from 20 games despite the win, beating the defending champions is a significant morale booster.

In a post match interview, the team’s Head Coach Trevor Kajawa said: “This is the start of Bangwe All Stars pressing to leave the relegation zone. I told my boys we are not doing well in the league, and we need to start with Bullets; they did it, and I have to praise my boys.”

Speaking on the recipe for their recent good run, Kajawa explained: “The secret to our victory is hard work. Our tactic is to start defending and counter-attacking, which works.”

On his part,FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Head Coach Kalitso Pasuwa accepted defeat, saying: “We need composure when we get to the goal. Going forward, we need to quickly correct where we are making mistakes; it’s on counter-attacks.”

On whether they still have chances to defend the league as defending champions, Pasuwa said they still have more games to play, expressing optimism.

Dan Lu’s upcoming song ‘Chakwera’ sparks debate on ditching DPP for MCP

By Pemphero Mpho Musowa

Afro-Pop musician Dan Lu has sparked debate online with his upcoming song ‘Chakwera’, which features President Lazarus Chakwera.

Some believe the song could be a double entendre, with Dan Lu taking shots at the President as his name “Chakwera” in vernacular means something going up, a situation Malawians are experiencing as essentials skyrocket.

Others think this is a direct proclamation by Dan Lu joining the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP).

Interestingly, the musician has hinted he might ditch the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) as he used the popular social media phrase ‘Boma ndiloweli’ “Ndipo silikusitha” when commenting on his post.

Dan Lu, a staunch DPP supporter, has sung for them while in power and in opposition, tormenting Chakwera.

His hit songs include ‘Lozani Zanu’, an anthem during the 2019 tripartite elections and 2020 presidential rerun that saw Chakwera defeat DPP’s Peter Mutharika.

He also sang ‘Tulani’, referencing Chakwera’s campaign promise to resign after two years if he didn’t deliver.

Dan Lu faced criticism and lost fans when fully engaged in the DPP campaign, with some saying he shouldn’t participate.

Others pointed out that music is a conduit to change the socio-political and economic narrative.

TNM Super League defending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets hopes of defending the title suffered a heavy blow as they went down 1-nil to relegation threatened Bangwe All Stars on Thursday afternoon at Kamuzu stadium.

Clever Chikwata who was also voted man of the match scored the only goal of the match in  the 71st minute in a counter-attack move after Bullets failed to penetrate Bangwe’s defence.

However, there is still a big debate on who is the real goal scorer of the goal as Chikwata’s shot was headed by James Msowoya before it crossed the line but the officiating personnel still awarded the goal to the former.

Bullets started the game very well and they got their first chance through Chawanangwa Gumbo in the 12th minute but his shot was saved by Bangwe goalkeeper Elias Missi.

Lloyd Aaron also had his chance to put the home side in front in the 23rd minute but once again Missi came to the rescue of the Bangwe-based side.

In the second half, Bangwe All Stars new coach Trevor Kajawa replaced James Tambwali and Christopher Jimu with the fresh legs of Richard Lapson and Shukuran Goba.

Bullets on the other hand brought in former Dedza Dynamos midfielder Lameck Gamphani and the Zimbabwean Ronald Chitiyo replacing Chawanangwa Gumbo and Maxwell Phodo.

Later in the game Ernest Petrol replaced Lloyd Aaron for Bullets while Bangwe took out James Msowoya for Emmanuel Lino.

In the last 20 minutes, both sides had a number of scoring opportunities but it still ended 1-nil in favour of Bangwe to the disappointment of Bullets coach Kallisto Pasuwa.

Pasuwa however said his side can still defend the title as there are still a lot of matches to be played before the end of the season.

Despite the win, Bangwe remain second from the bottom with 15 points after playing 20 games.

Bullets on the other hand are perched on 10th position with 24 points after playing 17 games.

Elsewhere, Gregory Nachipo and Samuel Chaponda were on target as Kamuzu Barracks beat Chitipa United 2-nil at Nankhaka Stadium.
